Abstract

The Institute for Literature and Art has significantly modernized its digitization workflows for Serbian literary research, moving from manuscript-focused methods to metadata-driven systems. This shift addresses both technological and thematic challenges posed by digital visibility. Since the 1970s, the Institute has pioneered avant-garde and non-canonical research, emphasizing minority cultures and women's contributions. The comparison of the two repositories (adopted in 2019 and 2021) reveals the incomparable efficacy of the EPrints platform over the Islandora platform. EPrints enhance metadata standardization, citation tracking, and scholarly visibility, increasing citation metrics and academic prestige. This transformation boosts the Institute's visibility and supports an epistemic renewal in Serbian literary research. The project envisions seven platforms for different research units, featuring digitized texts with annotations to facilitate advanced searches and expand the reach of research results beyond academia, engaging curators, activists, and feminist groups.
